The UNESCO Courier

In 1948, the first issue of The UNESCO Courier rolled off the presses in Paris. One of the world’s first international journals had been born. Since then, UNESCO's quarterly magazine has brought its readers local perspectives on global issues from some of the world's leading thinkers. While it has changed a great ideal over the years, both in content and in form, it pursues its original mission: to promote UNESCO's ideals, maintain a platform for the dialogue between cultures and provide a forum for International debate.

Since the publication of its first issue in 1948 in Paris, The UNESCO Courier has established itself as one of the very first international periodicals. Now published quarterly, it gives a voice to leading contemporary thinkers and offers local perspectives on major global challenges.
Over the decades, the magazine has evolved in form and content, yet it has always remained true to its original mission: to promote UNESCO’s ideals, foster dialogue between cultures, and provide a platform for international debate. A true tool for reflection, the Courier sheds light on past and present issues — from culture and science to education and the environment.
