This commemorative medal from the Monnaie de Paris pays tribute to the only United Nations site located in the heart of Paris.
A jewel of modern architecture, built in 1958 by Marcel Breuer, Pier-Luigi Nervi and Bernard Zehrfuss, UNESCO Headquarters is above all a place where international cooperation is forged and dialogue between peoples is shaped. On three hectares, in the light of its concrete, in the lyricism of its gardens, in the depth of its works of art, the universal values that are the foundation of UNESCO are brought to life: promoting international cooperation through education, culture, science, communication and information.
The front of the medal features the Y-shaped building nicknamed ‘the three-pointed star’, which houses the offices of international officials.
